This is a really lovely piece, and I'm surprised to hear you say that it's not well-appreciated! The emotion of it is striking and the muted colors (with the exception of that red) really contribute to the subdued tone here. I like that I'm not sure what emotion this person is feeling, but that it feels familiar all the same.

I like your style a lot--the mix between the lined parts of the portrait and the simple background is great. I do think that there might be a few too many lines in the face in comparison, and that a bit of softer blending would help even them out. Additionally, the black shirt is a good choice, but a bit overwhelming for lack of varied tones. If you were able to, I might recommend throwing some lighter patches of color in to break up that rather large, unvarying section (which might detract from the details in the rest of the piece).

You have a wonderfully unique style that deserves more recognition than it already has. Keep up the great work!
